Join Belcan Workforce Solutions as a Principal Mechanical Process Engineer for a leading UK construction and regeneration group. This 6-month contract role is based in Manchester, with a strong likelihood of extension. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring one day per week in the office. Responsibilities
- Serve as the mechanical lead on a large nuclear fuel reprocessing project.
- Produce mechanical engineering design deliverables, including calculations, datasheets, specifications, and schedules.
- Contribute to safety reviews and risk assessments.
- Ensure mechanical deliverables meet quality and compliance standards, project brief, and customer requirements.
- Review vendor quotations and liaise with equipment and package vendors.
- Specify, design, and evaluate the capacity of utility systems.
- Check piping design documents, including isometrics and layout drawings.
- Assist in plant layout development.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design team members to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
Accountabilities
- Adhere to programme schedules, fixed work-hour budgets, and tight deadlines.
- Ensure designs comply with regulatory and best practice standards for mechanical engineering.
- Liaise directly with the client and represent client professionally.
- Manage the technical workload of a mechanical team (potentially 2-4 engineers).
Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Significant experience in the nuclear sector.
- Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer Status.
- Experience in nuclear fuel reprocessing.
