Integrated Planning Manager / Project Planner

Portsmouth (Stevenage considered)

This role offers the chance to shape the delivery of major programmes and strategic growth projects within a leading Space & Defence environment. The Integrated Planning Manager will play a central part in coordinating complex schedules, driving project performance, and enabling successful bids and mission delivery across Space Digital UK.

Role Overview

The Integrated Planning Manager is responsible for building and maintaining high‑integrity project schedules, supporting Integrated Project Teams, and ensuring that senior leadership has clear, accurate, and timely project performance data. The role sits at the heart of programme execution, providing structure, insight, and control across multiple high‑profile initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver top‑level and detailed project schedules
  • Coordinate Integrated Project Team (IPT) schedules and ensure alignment across workstreams
  • Analyse project costs, forward load, and resource usage to support the Project Manager
  • Track payment milestones, risks, and change control activities
  • Consolidate management data and produce high‑quality reporting for senior leadership
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly project performance reports, including special focus updates
  • Create and maintain standardised templates for schedules and reporting
  • Provide essential project administration support to the Project Manager and wider team

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate brings strong planning expertise, technical awareness, and the ability to bring clarity to complex engineering programmes.

  • Experience in project management environments, including scheduling, logic checking, Earned Value, and risk management
  • Strong understanding of planning best practice: dependencies, resource scheduling, schedule health checks, critical path analysis, and Work Breakdown Structures
  • Skilled in planning to stage boundaries and contingency planning
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies
  • Proficient in MS Project Professional and Primavera P6 Professional

Technical Background & Tools

  • Minimum two years' experience in document control within a technical or data‑driven environment
  • Experience working with sensitive or secure data environments is advantageous
  • Familiarity with file/data management tools (e.g., Adobe, FTP, Nero)
  • Experience with Product Data Management systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter)
  • Strong IT literacy, particularly with MS Office
  • Aerospace or space engineering background preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain UK SC Security Clearance
