Belcan Workforce Solutions are currently looking for a Transmission Test Technician to work for our Off-Highway client based in Peterborough, UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transmission Test Technician to join the team and have a direct impact on the success of our Drivetrain team. As part of our L5/L6 team in Global Engine Development (GED), you will be involved in a variety of powertrain validation projects on an array of test cells and machines, covering both mechanical aspects of transmissions build/strip/inspection and test cell operation.

The role is based in our Europe Research & Development Centre, Peterborough, UK.

You will be responsible in adhering to the Organisation's health and safety policy, safe working practices and our Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork & Sustainability.

You will need to follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area, follow and work to Engineers instructions to operate test cell and complete required test plans. The use of hand/power tools and lifting equipment can be taught through required training/learning.

You will have the experience to operate a multitude of different off-highway vehicles including but not limited to, Backhoe Loaders, Skid Steers, Telehandlers, where required. Instrument powertrains with thermocouples, pressure transducers, speed pickups and other forms of sensors. You can show the ability to Strip, rebuild and the inspection of the transmission; Including measurements of various transmission components. Knowledge on how to diagnose and fix a range of faults on various types of transmissions (Powershift, CVT, Manual, Hydrostatic), work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) and manufacture parts from drawings using in house facilities (machining, welding and fabrication and fully equipped electronics lab) and produce electrical looms to interface powertrains to test cells.

You may also travel to various off-site test and development facilities both in house and 3rd Party (some overseas).

You will also get the opportunity to undertake training and further learning as required.

It would be ideal if you could show and demonstrate high level of mechanical, hydraulic aptitude with a good working knowledge of transmission and a good working knowledge of instrumentation and its application. You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization.

Ideally you will have an engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship and some relevant work experience or working towards/completed some form of relevant higher education (NVQ Level 3). Alongside good PC skills ability to use Microsoft Office and CAT designed software.

A bonus would be experience in, Test cell operation, good machine/engine hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and diagnostic/problem solving skills. Previous experience in maintenance repair of off-highway vehicles and/or large goods vehicles. Welding and Fabrication skills, Electrical fault finding and First pass data analysis and diagnostics.
