Electrical Test Operations Engineer
Location: Stevenage (moving to Oxfordshire in March 2026)
Shift Pattern: Up to 24/7 coverage, including weekends
Contract Type: 12 month contract inside IR35

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Test Operations Engineer to support Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) activities on engineering test benches and flight spacecraft. This is a hands-on role in a cleanroom environment, ensuring spacecraft systems meet rigorous standards before launch.
What you'll do:
- Execute electrical and functional test procedures on spacecraft and test benches.
- Operate Central Checkout System (CCS), Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), and Spacecraft Checkout Equipment (SCOE).
- Validate test aids, breakout boxes, and cables.
- Update test procedures, raise work orders, and prepare detailed test reports.
- Develop and debug automated test sequences using bespoke high-level software.
- Support electrical integration and testing at unit, subsystem, and system levels.
- Participate in environmental and launch test campaigns.
- Assist with design and manufacture of electrical test aids and oversee procurement.
What we're looking for:
- Essential:
- Electrical integration experience on test benches or spacecraft.
- Skilled in using electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, RF measurement tools, etc.).
- Ability to execute and update test scripts via CCS.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault investigation skills.
- Minimum HNC or NVQ Level 4 in Electrical Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (Data Handling, Power Systems, Thermal Control, etc.).
- Familiarity with data bus protocols (1553, SpaceWire).
- Experience with scripting/programming for automated tests.
- Awareness of cleanroom disciplines and willingness to work shifts/travel.
