Test Software Engineer

We at Belcan are currently looking for a Contract Test Software Engineer for an initial 4 month contract Outside of IR35 based in Cheltenham, to assist our team in providing software testing support to our client, a world leader in aircraft engines, systems and avionics.

The Test Software Engineer would support Test Rig Software (TRS) update and verification for one of their projects. This is a PC based software tool suite which is classed as a verification tool and is being developed to Tool Qualification Level 5 in DO-178C terms. Applicants should have a PC based software programming background, ideally in verification for aerospace, automotive and safety critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Running newly defined tests
    • Test debugging
    • Fault finding of the equipment or tests
    • Production of Problem Reports (PRs)
    • Diagnostics of Problem Reporting
  • Each task call includes an appropriate level of verification to support the investigation outcome started in the task report. Task events shall be according to scale
  • Formal demonstration tests shall be to the satisfaction of Engineering POC
  • Onsite testing
  • Task report and testing evidence shall be in appropriate soft copy format for lodging in the Company business system
  • Raising Task report, testing evidence and supporting documentation as required.
  • Requirements based verification test authoring and execution.
  • Problem reporting and diagnostics
  • Testing via PC based software
  • Overall testing support on project

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in applicable engineering domain or equivalent experience
  • Software Engineer experience - PC based software programming background - python experience - ideally
  • Confident in carrying out onsite testing - Test equipment/rig experience useful for verification of aerospace safety critical applications.
  • Knowledge of development required based tests
  • Experience of DO-178C terms
