The Opportunity
Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Thermal Vacuum Test Engineer to join our Space & Defence client's environmental test laboratory team. As part of this dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the test requirements of both internal business units and external commercial customers.
Responsibilities
As a Thermal Vacuum Test Engineer you will be responsible for conducting thermal vacuum testing on space and commercial hardware. Additionally, you will perform temperature and humidity testing on space and commercial hardware. After each test, you'll post-process the data and prepare comprehensive reports. Adhering to national and international standards is essential, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of testing processes.
You'll also review test procedures and provide accurate quotations based on external customer specifications. Managing the calibration of test equipment and assisting with cost estimation and scheduling are integral parts of this position. Lastly, you'll be responsible for maintaining the associated test facilities.
Requirements
To be successful as a Thermal Vacuum Test Engineer you should have an engineering apprenticeship with an HNC or an Engineering Degree. A minimum of 5 years' experience in testing within a laboratory environment is required. We're looking for someone with a proven ability to work directly with customers, as effective communication is crucial. Flexibility is key, as you'll need to work weekends and rotating shifts:
- Early Shift: 6 am - 2 pm
- Late Shift: 2 pm - 10 pm
- Night Shift: 10 pm - 6 am
