Role Overview
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the development of detailed engineering designs for marine systems and structures, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with project requirements. You'll produce high-quality 2D and 3D outputs, provide guidance to multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in integrating components and systems for naval vessels.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design activities across Structural, Piping, Electrical, or Outfit disciplines
Review and approve design outputs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to meet delivery milestones
Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth within the team
Drive continuous improvement in design processes and methodologies
Core Engineering Disciplines:
Structural Engineering
- Advanced modelling and drafting of bulkheads and decks
- Shell modelling and nesting
Piping Engineering
- Complex pipe routing and isometric drawings
Electrical Engineering
- Electrical system and component design
- Schematic analysis and cable management
- Cable segregation and load calculations
Outfit Engineering
- Compartment layout and equipment integration
- Design of ship access and escape systems
- Specification of insulation, coatings, and deck coverings
Tools & Technologies
- PTC Windchill
- Siemens Foran
Preferred Background
- Extensive experience in naval ship design
- Strong knowledge of cable networks and piping systems
- Proven ability to lead design teams and manage technical delivery
