Role Summary
The Double Day Lineside Engineer acts as the primary technical authority for the production line, supporting Autonomous Production Teams (APT) and First Line Managers by diagnosing issues, removing blockers, and ensuring smooth end‑to‑end production flow. This role combines hands‑on problem solving with continuous improvement, enabling efficient, safe, and high‑quality manufacturing operations.
Key Deliverables
- Technical analysis and enhanced documentation for Assembly Anomalies (AM) and Non‑Conformities (NC)
- Design Query Notes (DQNs) covering process and equipment deviations
- Rework work orders and outstanding work management
- Accurate technical information including drawings, references, parts, tooling, and documentation
- Effective coordination with support functions to maintain production continuity
Core Responsibilities
Disruption Management
- Identifies and supports the assessment of NCs on the shopfloor
- Provides detailed input for NC creation, description, and closure
- Drives containment and corrective actions
- Supplies data and insights to supply chain quality teams
- Ensures production teams receive timely technical support
Continuous Improvement
- Highlights production issues beyond operator or FLM capability
- Collaborates with Work Preparation, Line Balancing, Maintenance, and other support roles
- Contributes to LEAN initiatives and waste reduction
- Supports Work Improvement Proposals (WIP), process validation forms (PVF), and failure analysis
- Acts as NC Leader within the COM‑17 process when required
Industrial Assets
- Supports repair requests and small tool requirements
- Contributes to specifications for new or modified jigs, tools, and calibration needs
- Ensures industrial assets remain effective and fit for purpose
Outstanding Work Management
- Assists in documenting and assessing outstanding work with the Multifunctional Team (MFT)
- Ensures accurate communication and closure of outstanding work templates
Work Order Management
- Flags blocked work orders for PPC/Level 2 discussions
- Helps prioritise serial and rework orders linked to NCs, concessions, or blocking points
Environment, Health & Safety
- Promotes EH&S rules and ensures visibility on the shopfloor
- Supports compliance with EH&S standards at each station
- Identifies and helps resolve near misses
Quality
- Ensures production processes and quality standards are consistently applied
- Supports teams in maintaining compliance and high-quality output
Logistics
- Prioritises material flow for rework activities
- Ensures required materials reach the correct station promptly
