Due to growth with new projects, Belcan International are hiring a Learning & Development Advisor to work at our Derby Head office.

This role will promote and help develop the technical and professional capability within our Belcan Group.

As well as the development of existing team members, this will include the management of a Graduate & Apprenticeship development programme to attract new talent to the business.

You will also oversee the implementation of professional body and community partnership schemes (e.g. IMechE, RINA, IET, STEM etc).

To manage the training and development skills matrix and associated administration.

You will be working within the HR Function reporting to the Group HR Director and supporting the Group HR Management team.

The role will require travel to our Engineering Services sites in Cheltenham, Bristol, Glasgow, London, Runcorn and to external training providers and universities.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all early careers activity on behalf of the organisation for Graduates and Apprentices and support the Organisation with training administration and records.

You will work with our Recruitment team to manage the apprenticeship and graduate trainee hiring process for the organisation working with line managers and selected universities and apprentice training providers.

Work closely with stakeholders and hiring managers across the organisation to understand their early career resource requirements.

Be able to develop and maintain relationships with Schools and Universities along with establishing new relationships.

Training and Development -

Support the Group HR Director with internal training and succession planning processes.

Establish a training strategy that focuses on all employee development.

Manage training requirements, learning plans and agreements and the processing and coordination of L&D requests.

Engage with customers and external bodies as necessary to ensure that minimum levels of training are achieved as required by contractual or professional obligations.

Competency frameworks are to be developed for each skill group along with overseeing the Belcan training budget.

Create feedback forums for 'Young Engineers'.

Co-ordinate the STEM ambassadors at Belcan.

To manage the Scottish Enterprise relationship and funding opportunities.

Skills and Experience

CIPD qualified with a training specialist background - Level 5.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

Attention to detail with ability to maintain high accuracy and work quality standards.

Previous experience essential for working in an engineering environment or equivalent as an Early Careers Specialist in a HR function.

Understanding of the apprenticeship levy and application process.

Suitable applicants will be required to achieve BPSS clearance.
