Belcan Workforce Solutions are recruiting for a Training & Competency Advisor for our client, a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across the chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewable and food & beverage markets.

Our client enhance the efficiency of assets, ensuring a high level of availability and reducing maintenance costs and have extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities; specialising in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases from consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.

THE ROLE

To support the strategy & services of the training and competency function and to ensure compliance with training and competence requirements, in accordance with company and client processes and procedures.

OPERATIONAL

  • Proactively ensure compliance (corporate & legislative) in process, documentation, policy and behaviour
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining personnel training and competency records to ensure full compliance with company procedures
  • Liaise with other business support areas to ensure they provide, and are provided with, all relevant information to support business activities
  • Collate findings from audits on personnel records/process and communicate outcomes to appropriate parties. Work with stakeholders to make improvements.
  • Lead the monthly reporting and administration process for obtaining training grants, to maximise returns.
  • Support in coordinating in-house training, where applicable.
  • Be a Super User of the Company training system and provide support to users, when required.
  • Support regional operations teams with Trade Assessment process and employee personal development plans.
  • Report within the business, the status of mandatory training across the regions and regular visits to sites required.
  • Identify competence gaps and develop gap analysis plans and perform regular audits and gap analysis on personnel training records.
  • Support the business and participate in the continuous review and development of competency related systems and processes to ensure they remain robust and fit-for-purpose.
  • Liaise with the Company's external training partner on behalf of the regional operations teams, to ensure all training requirements are met.
  • Provide management and internal stakeholders on a regular basis, training and competency related reports, as agreed.

TEAM

  • Contribute to the team, sharing best practice and building a "one team" culture.
  • Ensure participation in performance through the relevant processes and initiatives ensuring the appropriate knowledge and skills are in place.
  • Liaise and support the Training & Competency Manager in supporting management, operations and employees to ensure awareness and involvement in key competency issues/initiatives.
  • Take the lead in projects and initiatives as directed by the Training & Competency Manager and participate in external working parties as required

COMMUNICATION

  • Support smooth interaction between intercompany departments as appropriate.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and understanding of technical Competency processes and quality checking incoming Competency information
  • Previous experience in a T&C or L&D role
  • Experience in a fast paced work environment
  • Understanding of various industry Awarding Bodies
  • Knowledge of the industry (desirable)
  • Understanding of training levy grant recovery process (desirable)
  • Able to work under own initiative & operate under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal & influencing skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including use of Excel
  • Ability to plan project to delivery
  • Understanding of the training and competency function
