Software Test Engineer - Driving Quality in Next‑Generation Geospatial Technology
The Software Test Engineer plays a key role within a dynamic Agile Scrum team, contributing to the development of innovative, cloud‑based solutions in the geospatial domain. This position goes far beyond traditional testing. The engineer is involved across the full software development lifecycle, shaping the quality and reliability of complex, real‑world systems.
The role is based in either the Newcastle or Guildford office, with flexible hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate is expected to be on site three days per week, with the option to work remotely for two days.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to embed quality throughout the development process.
- Provides accurate task estimation during sprint planning.
- Designs effective tests within an Agile environment using modern test management tools.
- Creates and executes automated and exploratory tests, with a strong focus on RESTful API testing.
- Conducts thorough testing of web applications.
- Contributes to the research, evaluation, and evolution of test automation frameworks.
- Supports Test Readiness and Verification Reviews.
- Completes test phases independently while working effectively within a collaborative team.
- Works with partner teams to prepare and execute Integration and Acceptance Tests.
- Adheres to rigorous engineering and quality standards.
- Contributes to Integration and Configuration Management plans.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working within Agile development teams.
- Ability to support Product Owners in defining clear, testable acceptance criteria.
- Strong experience testing REST architectures using tools such as Postman or Bruno.
- Proficiency in UI testing for web applications.
- Self‑motivated, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates innovation and encourages it in others.
- Confident and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver work to quality, cost, and schedule.
- Excellent attention to detail.
