Senior Quantity Surveyor
Belcan, due to exciting new project has a new opportunity for experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who will facilitate and coordinate effective contract management of a number of specialist infrastructure upgrade projects in line with both business, client and end-user requirements.

Responsibilities
- Provide commercial support and expertise to projects, being responsible for a range of commercial activities (payment applications, creation and submission of contractual notifications, maintaining project forecasts)
- Undertake internal compliance, liaising with the relevant Project Manager and customers as required
- Support the project delivery team with all commercial aspects of the project
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) ensuring alignment of objectives and mutual setting of goals
- Good understanding of the overarching contract terms and conditions and how these impact local operations
- Proactively ensures contract compliance exists and proposes and monitors correction plans to ensure any non-compliance is eliminated
- Management of commercial risk including effective management and mitigation of delivery to ensure that the Project's commercial position is best protected.
- Ensure contractual procedures and notices are followed and issued in a timely manner
- Ensure all compensation events / claims are adequately justified, rationally explained and recorded to support overall commercial position
- Review and understand contracts and subcontract terms as required and appropriate
- Review of contracts associated with live tenders
- Act as 'champion' for the communication and embedding commercial guidance and expertise, initiatives, policies and procedures across the relevant project teams
- Act as a role model, consultant and 'commercial' coach to the project teams to ensure consistency of approach in commercial awareness, and developing and maintaining positive relationships
- Raise key commercial issues with senior management through both line management and functional management lines - escalate resourcing/timeline risks constructively to leadership and offers solutions
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
- Relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying role
- Good understanding of day-to-day commercial administration in the Engineering and Construction industries
- Excellent NEC3/4 skills
- General commercial experience
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and electronic contract administration systems (CEMAR / Conject etc.)
- Experience in delivering to project commercial strategy, and to delivering on large and complex contracts and bids
- Experience in supporting large-scale projects and complex change initiatives using appropriate methodologies
- Experience in developing and sustaining positive working relationships including the ability to understand and work in line with commercial strategy
- People management experience and commercial consultancy expertise
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Evidence of cross-Business Unit networking, delivering speedy and proactive commercial advice and knowledge sharing
- Experience of working in process industries (O&G, Pharma. Etc.)
