Role Overview
A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsperson to join its Derby-based team. This role will take ownership of the draughting function locally, acting as the key point of contact for all product definition queries while supporting the delivery of complex turbomachinery projects.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in producing and reviewing high-level engineering drawings for gas turbine components, while also mentoring and guiding junior team members.
Key Responsibilities - Senior Draughtsperson
- Produce and revise detailed engineering drawings for complex turbomachinery components, including blades, blisks and ring-strut-rings
- Act as a checker for drawings created within the draughting team, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Serve as the main point of contact for product definition queries within the Derby office
- Collaborate with design engineers, project managers and stakeholders to interpret and deliver on technical requirements
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant aerospace standards, regulations and quality procedures
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior draughtspersons
- Stay up to date with industry developments, tools and best practices to continuously improve design capability
- Support customer engagement by contributing to technical discussions, clarifications and project updates
Requirements - Senior Draughtsperson
- Bachelor's degree, HND or equivalent in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience within the gas turbine industry
- Strong track record in modelling and draughting complex components (e.g. blades, discs, ring-strut-rings)
- Advanced CAD experience (NX highly advantageous)
- Ability to perform detailed GD&T stack-up calculations independently
- Experience or willingness to support light design activities when required
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confident presenting technical information internally and to clients
- Ability to work closely with customers to define requirements and resolve technical challenges
