Sitec - a Belcan company are currently looking to recruit a Process Engineer for a multinational oil and gas corporation. The post is based in Southampton, Hampshire and is an estimated 6-12 month contract and is paying competitively on a PAYE and Umbrella hourly basis.

This position has been deemed Inside of IR35.

Scope of Work

  • Project Development Engineer with process design experience to for Portfolio Projects ($1M-$10M).
  • Must be proficient and experienced in developing projects in FEL3/FEED.
  • Experience in FEL 2 also highly desirable.

Background:

For the Brownfield Projects Organization East (BPO East) we are looking for a Project Development Engineer.

BPO East is responsible for developing and executing projects for both the refinery and chemical plants for the Refinery and Chemical Plant, from design to commissioning.

Projects are developed and executed in close cooperation with the manufacturing organisation.

The position:

As a Process Development Engineer you are responsible for developing the Scoping Studies(FEL2) and Process Design Specifications (FEL3) of projects. In developing this, you will work together with the engineering specialists and the operational business teams.

In addition, you are responsible for the execution of the necessary reviews in the SHE and quality area and the final approval of the Design Deliverables.

Profile:

  • We are looking for candidates with a preferably Chemical Engineering background with at least 5 years of work experience.
  • The candidate should be IChemE chartered or nearing chartership status or equivalent.
  • The candidate should have relevant knowledge and experience in the field of project development/process design and making process calculations, gained at a company in the chemical/petroleum industry or an EPC.
  • The project development engineer must be self-starting and able to manage their own workload.
  • They must have a highly developed analytical thinking ability, proactive, proactive, result-oriented and speaks excellent English. Also a strong networker and communicator is a must to interact with our Regional Distributed European Project Development team based across Europe.

This position is to support the portfolio, however there may be an opportunity to also remotely support our other European sites. The preferred candidate would be based at our (Southampton) office, however arrangements to split work locations between a home office and the Southampton office would be possible for the right candidate.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent, required
  • 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in petroleum refining / chemical process industry / with an engineering contractor serving these industries
  • 5+ years of demonstrated capital project development experience
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
  • Read, write and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
