Belcan Workforce Solutions has a great opportunity for a Performance Engineer to join our expanding on-site UK team for a major and prestigious energy company.
This position is a remote role, working with our client based in Montreal, Canada.
Responsibilities
Working in the Aero-Derivative Gas Turbine Performance Department, the Performance Specialist supports all aspects of engine performance and operability. Using thermodynamic engine performance models, the specialist defines the engine cycle requirements in terms of pressures, temperatures and flows and works with sub-system and component teams to ensure successful whole engine integration and compliance with customer and business requirements.
Specific tasks:
- Thermodynamic modelling of gas turbine systems, sub-systems and components throughout the operating envelope and during the entire lifecycle of the product
- Provide performance data for engineering design
- Define engine control laws and operating limits
- Plan and support engine tests, analyze data and interpret results
- Support new product developments and their entry into service
- Support production and fleet including problem investigation and resolution
- Provide data for sales and marketing
- Certify test facilities for performance testing
- Work with the wider engineering department and business to ensure that performance and operation ability is fully integrated
- Develop tools methods and capability
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or relevant discipline
- Ideally 5 years of experience in Gas Turbine Performance, however new graduates are welcome to apply
- Experience in performance modeling of gas turbines would be an asset, including use of NPSS
- Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken; capability in French would be an asset
- Able to communicate and exchange ideas effectively and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Self-motivated, strong team player
