PDMS Design Engineer

A leading engineering and maintenance provider is seeking an experienced PDMS Designer to support major activities at Hinkley Point. The organisation operates across the chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage sectors, enhancing asset efficiency, availability, and reliability.

With extensive expertise in both offshore and onshore facilities, the company specialises in asset management across the full lifecycle from consulting and engineering to manufacturing, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning. Teams operate from multiple strategic locations across the UK, delivering exceptional standards of safety, compliance, and quality.

The Role: PDMS Designer

This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality execution design work by ensuring effective model management, automation, and data integrity, while coordinating with multiple stakeholders across large, complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage PDMS model files to maximise automation and minimise manual adjustments for designers.
  • Install and maintain PDMS bases following HO1 instruction, ensuring full data integrity and compliance with procedures.
  • Install, review, and manage PDMS catalogues after RD delivery, resolving any shortfalls to avoid designer downtime.
  • Create, manage, and test user accounts and system access, maintaining full control, security, and quality.
  • Oversee software licensing to optimise cost and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and resolve PDMS software issues, coordinating resources to minimise downtime.
  • Build positive working relationships with stakeholders including clients, Aveva, design teams, and project teams.
  • Support client PDMS teams with updates and model transfers across multiple sites.
  • Develop expertise in BPE software and support consistent, high???quality outputs aligned with required standards.
  • Provide proactive support to the design team across ongoing project activities and ad hoc requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and professional development.

Experience & Skills Required

General & Technical Background

  • Experience in piping design for nuclear power plants using PDMS.
  • Experience in pipe manufacturing.
  • IT experience relating to software maintenance, diagnostics, and fault resolution.
  • Experience on a construction site or operational plant (advantageous).
  • Comfortable working within a multicultural environment.
  • Strong understanding of PDMS administration and design processes, especially nuclear piping systems.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software rules and requirements.

Core Competencies

  • Strong organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges, manage conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building abilities.
  • French language skills would be advantageous.
