The Opportunity

Belcan Workforce Solutions are currently in collaboration with one of our Aerospace clients in the search for a Mechanical Technician to join their AIT Operations Team in Stevenage.

Our client is looking for somebody who can consistently produce items which conform to quality requirements, highlight any anomalies and second close non-conformances where applicable.

The Role

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be reporting to the Lead Technician and aiding in the assembly of aluminium composite panels. Daily tasks will include assembly and final assembly processes, including potting of inserts, bonding of brackets and equipment, panel completion, torque loading, and high tolerance requirements (typically better than 0.05mm).

You will be working in accordance with the local document system describing methods and procedures, complying with standard processes, specific area requirements, and health and safety requirements. You will also be expected to promote cleanroom regulations and 5S policy within the team.

You will be required to replenish Kanban consumables and monitor calibration of tools, be flexible and mobile across operational teams, and participate in shift handover when requested, providing inputs to ensure job progression through shift changes.

You must be an apprentice trained, have the ability to work from detailed drawings and electronic work instructions and experience of working within a cleanroom environment. You must also be able to work in confined spaces above floor level. Experience of assembly and final assembly processes for composite panel manufacturing is essential.

After an initial familiarisation period you will be required to work a shift pattern of 6:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 Monday to Friday in weekly rotation. Midweek and weekend hours will be available ad hoc.

Successful applicants will be required to be security screened and obtain a Basic disclosure certificate on appointment.
