Belcan are recruiting an Engineering Manager to join our Systems Engineering project.

Based from East Kilbride, near Glasgow.

Permanent position - Potential for Hybrid working.

You will provide management and support to Systems Engineering teams.

These teams can span aspects of: systems based engineering, mission systems, aircraft systems and electro-mechanical systems.

You will have a strong background in aerospace engineering and the management of system requirements through to compliance.

You will help assist in delivering solutions to customers and provide detailed technical guidance and execution of requirement management plans and the associated strategies.

Have a passion to help drive forward innovative ideas and follow them through to implementation, whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirements.

Have an ability to lead and manage the team(s), providing support and guidance to all team members to ensure that the function can deliver to its full potential.

Be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance the commercial responsibilities inherent within the role, with the more technical demands required.

Be comfortable working on both military and commercial programmes.

Reporting Line: Head of Function, Chief Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Customer
    • Support development of new and existing client relationships
  • Delivery
    • Support and management of Team Leaders and individuals to ensure successful customer delivery
  • P&L
    • Ensure consistency of remuneration across teams
    • Ensure best practice is applied on quotations i.e. appropriate levels, governance, licence costs & location of delivery is considered to optimise profitability
    • Prepare and approve customer quotations
    • Manage billability & overspend
    • Identify & implement cost savings (internal & customer)
    • Approval of hires for function - authorised to approve within set limits
  • Resource / Capability
    • Resource planning & deployment on customer accounts
    • Ensure appropriate skills mix across the functional teams
    • Delivery enablement - interface with stakeholders on HR, Security, IT, Facilities etc.
    • PDRs
  • Offshore
    • Support development of off-shore teams as appropriate

Qualifications and Attributes.

You will be able to demonstrate the following attributes/experience:-

  • Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven track record in Aerospace Certification Programmes
  • Conversant with FAA, CAA, FAR, JAR, BCAR & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS, AIRCRAFT STANDARDS, DO-254, DO-178C, DO-168G & ATA 100 System
  • Experienced in creating and forming flexible teams.

  • Excellent motivational skills and behaviours.
  • Able to discuss and communicate on technical aspects, both internally and with Belcan clients.
  • Able to discuss and communicate Belcan's value offering to new and existing clients
