Belcan are hiring on a Permanent basis for an Electrical Engineer based in our Runcorn facility.

Profile:

The Electrical / Instrument engineer should have a strong background in various electrical fields such as oil & gas, water treatment, chemicals, etc. S/he will help assist in delivering solutions to various customers and provide a good technical guidance. The candidate should have a passion to help drive forward innovate ideas and follow them through to implementation, whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirements.

The role has a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality.

Amongst other things the successful candidate will be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance the technical responsibilities inherent within the role, with the commercial and project timescale associated with delivery.

Detailed task responsibilities

  • Instrument loop design
  • Integration of vendor packages
  • Specification of Instrumentation
  • Industrial automation and industrial system communications.
  • Control and Safety System architectures.
  • Process Control technique.
  • Design of LV electrical circuits including motor controls, LV distribution, lighting and earthing and compliance to BS 7671.
  • Electrical requirements in Hazardous Areas, where a risk of explosion from dusts and gases exist, in particular the implementation of Intrinsically Safe circuits.
  • MCC design.
  • Lightning Protection.
  • Design of the electrical circuits.
  • Produce 2D layout drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Compile Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the designs.
  • Electrical understanding covering fusing and electrical protection strategy to circuit designs.
  • Ground up system design of electrical and multiplex systems.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, effective technical information to the customer.
  • Obtain and implement specifications accurately and effectively.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Customer
    • Interacts with customer technical focal points as required
    • Be able to interact well with both internal and external stakeholders and communicate technical issues; propose solutions for features which do not meet the requirements etc.
    • Supporting team leader to define approach, timescales and hours associated with tasks
    • Interacts with customer technical focal points as required

  • Delivery
    • On-Time, On-Budget delivery in accordance with Belcan customer quotations
    • Adherence to the Belcan QMS
    • Adherence to the Customer QMS

  • P&L
    • Identify cost savings (internal & customer)
    • Identify change
    • Manages change and can articulate its occurrence

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Electrical HNC/Engineering Degree (or similar)
  • Understanding of Electrical Circuit Diagrams and Schematics
  • Good overall skills in Microsoft Office.
