Sitec - a Belcan company are currently looking to recruit a Dynamic Containment Vessel Engineer for a Defence establishment in Reading. The post is an estimated 12 month contract initially and is paying competitively on an hourly basis

Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Job Purpose
Provide technical support to the V6X Vessel team, to deliver the V6X Vessel design

Key requirements and essential skills for the role:

Essential: Knowledge of any of the following analysis types: Implicit FEA; Explicit FEA; Pressure vessel substantiation to ASME BPVC, PD5500 or similar; and Mechanical handling substantiation to BS EN 13001 or similar. Knowledge of stage gate design process and required documentation. Proficiency in MathCad

Desirable: Managed design process & awareness of engineering design and substantiation techniques.

Extensive experience of working in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear and/or explosives).

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain an understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and documentation associated with the design of pressure vessels.
  • Maintain an understanding of the design analysis techniques and tools used for substantiation of pressure vessels and associated equipment.
  • Maintain high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce technical design and substantiation documentation to support the delivery of the V6X Vessel Containment package.
  • Support production of technical specifications for outsourced work packages.
  • Review and check analysis work provided by suppliers.
  • Assist with and/or compile technical specifications for work package design tenders and manage associated tender return reviews.
  • Provide tasking information to the Lead Engineer to support project planning
  • Undertake technical activities and produce documentation including records of meetings, technical reports and calculations.
  • Review and check analysis work performed by others (e.g. suppliers).

Qualifications required:

  • Essential: HNC/D or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Desirable: Membership of an Engineering Institute, at minimum level of I Eng. (or equivalent), Engineering Degree (Hons) and Chartered Engineer (or equivalent).
