Key Responsibilities of a Marine Design Engineer
Detailed Engineering Design & Documentation
- Develop and produce high‑quality engineering drawings, accurate 3D models, and comprehensive technical specifications using advanced CAD tools.
- Carry out detailed calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection to ensure robust, safe, and compliant designs.
- Lead and contribute to design reviews, ensuring consistent adherence to Belcan's Quality Management System (QMS).
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 5 years' detailed design experience within a marine engineering or defence environment.
- Essential: Proven experience working on naval ships or submarine design projects.
- Essential: Proficiency with the FORAN CAD system.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software and strong working knowledge of engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, tolerance stack-up).
- Strong appreciation of environmental impacts and sustainability considerations in engineering activities.
