The Opportunity

Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a talented and experienced data engineer to join our Space & Defence client's team in Stevenage. As part of the Space Systems projects, you will play a crucial role in managing engineering data processes. The team analyses stakeholder use cases, defines data processes, and develops data engineering software products, making this an excellent opportunity for somebody who is looking to get stuck in and be at the forefront of the company's digitalisation strategy.

Reporting to the Data Engineering Lead, you will collaborate with stakeholders to define, validate, set up, and manage engineering data processes. Your expertise in data management tool development and validation will be essential. Key responsibilities include:

  • Use Case Definition: Work closely with stakeholders to define data management solutions use cases.
  • Database Development: Contribute to the company's standard data management system, ensuring data continuity across different engineering professions.
  • Java Infrastructure: Manage or support data management processes, particularly centred around Java infrastructure. Validate scripts coded in Java.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with software developers to develop and test new features or bug fixes.

To excel in this role, you should have a proven experience in defining, validating, and administering processes related to engineering data within an engineering context, preferably in the Aerospace or Space Industry. The ability to work closely with stakeholders on requirements and use case definition for tool development is essential.

You must be familiar with administering engineering data within Database Management Systems (DBMS) and performing related data import and export processes and be proficient in Java programming/script coding with knowledge of query languages (e.g., SQL).

You will be required to be security screened and obtain a Basic disclosure certificate on appointment and you must meet eligibility requirements to obtain UK Security Clearance.

If you are passionate about data engineering, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want to contribute to cutting-edge projects, we encourage you to apply!
