Belcan Workforce Solutions is currently looking for a BMS Controls Developer to work for our Off-Highway client based in Peterborough, UK.

This position offers the opportunity to work on several fast-moving programmes, applying cutting-edge electrification technology to the off-highway industry, with a diverse range of applications.

You will work with process partner teams (primarily Electric and Advanced Power Systems Division) to gather and develop requirements for the BMS controls being developed on the Gen 2.2 to Gen 2.5 battery packs. Creating control algorithms / software models using Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow to meet software requirements. Conduct control system tuning, calibration activities on test bench and or on pack machine to achieve desired system performance. You will conduct sub-system FMEAs, documenting potential failure modes, identifying and completing design and validation actions and managing subsequent updates. The planning and execution of verification and validation testing for electronics & control system software in SiL, HiL or on-pack or development machines. As well as troubleshooting and the resolution of electronics & control system issues encountered during pack running.

Ideally you would have a Customer focused and Innovative mindset, Initiating action with good problem-solving, analysis and decision-making skills. You will have high work standards and good planning and organisational skills alongside strong communication skills.

Your foundation of experience will stem from a strong technical background ( in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering) though other qualifications or experience will be considered. The showing of significant experience in using Mathworks tools (Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow) for model-based software design and development to create embedded software. The ability to translate and develop customer requirements and objectives into production-ready software models.

Evident knowledge of software FMEA and validation plan creation and significant, demonstrable experience of real-time control development for electric powertrain, engine, transmission, hydraulics or similar.

It would also be beneficial if you have a good understanding of electrification or at least some of the elements of electric powertrain (battery systems, motors, inverters, power electronics). Some experience of HiL test equipment and the ability to programme automated tests. Knowledge of software version control systems, ideally GiT or Clearcase. Knowledge of or prior experience of developing software to meet functional safety requirements.
