Fuel Systems Design Engineer

Location: Filton
Sector: Aerospace / Advanced Manufacturing
Contract: Until December 2026 with possible extension

Pay rate: £42.10ph Umbrella or £31.47ph PAYE

Working schedule: 5 Days Onsite

The Opportunity

We're supporting a major aerospace organisation in the search for a Fuel Systems Installation Design Engineer to join a Wing Engineering team based in Filton. This role sits within a multi‑national design function, working closely with teams in the UK, Europe, and the US.

You'll be responsible for the design and installation of wing fuel systems across a wide range of commercial aircraft programmes. The position offers long‑term programme exposure, technical ownership, and involvement in both in‑service and future development activities.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong CATIA V5 skills who enjoys end‑to‑end design responsibility and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver end‑to‑end design activities, from concept through detailed design to production support
  • Support design maturity gates, DFM reviews, and manufacturing / assembly requirements
  • Design and validate fuel system installation components and assemblies, ensuring optimisation of:
    • Weight
    • Cost
    • Performance
    • Safety and compliance
  • Produce and maintain Definition Dossiers for Manufacturing and Assembly (component & FAL level)
  • Complete technical studies, trade‑offs, and investigations in line with applicable design methods and procedures
  • Support product development, modifications, and in‑service queries
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, manufacturing sites, and external suppliers as required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands‑on experience using CATIA V5
  • Background in aerospace installation or systems design eg fuel systems, landing gear or hydraulics.
  • Experience with design configuration and data management tools, such as:
    • PASS
    • DPDS
    • VPM
    • ICC / ACP (or similar aerospace PLM tools)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary and multi‑site environment
  • Good communication skills and a delivery‑focused mindset
